LEARNING PARTICIPANT OBSERVATION

This work reflects on the process of the construction of knowledge. It is the report of the students' experience involved in the research that I have developing at two schools in the city of Londrina. The methodology used in the research is that of participant observation. This methodological choice reflects our understanding that the construction of the knowledge settles down starting from the encounters inter-subjective that settles down in the field of the research. We assumed that the knowledge takes place exactly where the Cartesian science and positivism doesn't recognize it: in the same relationship between subject and object - in the relationship inter-subjective. In other words, an object supposedly objective, we will have an object that is at the same time subject - that interferes and resists the analysis devices and of the investigation that is applied, disturbing its operation. Such fact lead the researchers to confront with their implications - as much in what he/she concerns the experience of doing a research as for the engagements political, social, cultural and libidinous that are implicit in the "glances" that leads about the researched reality, and, the fact of they being involved in a relationship inter-subjective, it puts them before the imponderable, of the uncontrollable, of the incommensurable. This means to say that ours "glances" are "polluted" as much for the existences - last and current - as for the anguishes, fears, insecurities and current anxieties of the experiences that they get in touch with one another. Considering that the researched reality - the school - it is an institution that composes our social imaginary, we can say that the participant observation involves them in the research process that can cause a "strangeness", as much of the senses that go through the social reality as of the representations that bound her, propitiating them to rethink on the current social practices.
